Mini Dental Implants

While dentures provide our patients with a natural looking tooth replacement option, oftentimes these removable appliances slip or make embarrassing clicking noises. Our mini dental implant procedure offers patients with dentures a much more permanent and stable solution. Mini dental implants anchor dentures down permanently and are much more affordable and less painful than full size implant surgery!

What are Mini Dental Implants?

Mini Dental Implants (MDI) are an affordable procedure that helps to stabilize lower dentures through mini titanium alloy implants that are inserted into the jawbone.

Used as an alternative to full size dental implants, this procedure is minimally invasive as it does not usually require making an incision into the gums.

This procedure can be completed in one appointment, often in just two hours and is highly ideal for patients who:

  • Are unable to undergo the invasive surgery of full size dental implants
  • Do not have adequate jawbone to support full size dental implants
  • Are seeking more affordable tooth replacement options

How Do Mini Dental Implants Work?

Mini Dental Implants consist of 3 parts:

1. Metal Connectors that are attached the base of your dentures

2. Rubber rings that are attached to the metal connectors and snap onto the mini dental implants for a secure fit

3. Titanium alloy mini dental implants that are inserted into your jawbone

Because the procedure is less invasive than full size dental implants, patients do not have to endure long healing periods. Within just a few days of the procedure, you will be able to eat, talk and enjoy your new permanent smile!

The Mini Dental Implants Process

The process of receiving your mini dental implants is quick and easy- often completed in one, two-hour appointment!

First, Dr. Compton will apply local anesthesia to the area where the implants will be placed. Then he will carefully insert the mini implant (2 millimeters wide) into your jawbone.

The implants protrude over your jawbone and have a round metal head that serves as the attachment site for the dentures. The metal connectors and rubber rings on your dentures will snap over the metal head of the implants for a secure and solid base.

Once your dentures are securely in place you can leave our office with a more confident, natural feeling smile!
